My Oreck Vac
I purchased my XL2 Ultra Oreck in Houston, Texas near River Oaks on Westheimer back in 2003. The service there was great and he was very helpful. It has been the best vacuum and longest surviving vac I've ever purchased. The XL2 comes equip with a CELOC HEPA filter system that is a must for anyone with pets and/or allergies (I have both). The vac is super light weight and easy to use on any surface.
With the purchase of the upright vac, you get the canister vac for upholstery, drapes, etc as well as a cordless steam iron for free. It is 7 years later and all three items still work fine. What makes the Oreck worth the price is the service. Along with the lifetime guarantee is a lifetime upgrade option so if there is a new model that you want to buy, you can trade in your old one and get a couple of hundred bucks knocked off the price!
The lifetime guarantee is what makes it worth it. I take it in every year for a tune-up for free and once had to had a belt replaced (only cost $12). Recently, the unit would not power on so I took it to the local store and he fixed it free of charge. The local stores always have great items like filters, vac bags, deodorizers, cleaning products and air purifiers too.
Some local Oreck stores are better managed than others so you have to check them out to see which ones have a quick turn around time on repairs. That is my only complaint, but otherwise, it's the best cleaning system there is!
