I bought an Oreck xl more than a year ago, so I could finally have a vacuum that would help me with my allergies, since I just received a dust mite allergy diagnosis. I knew Oreck vacuums were not cheap, but with all the changes I had to go through, I decided the cost was worth it. After a year, I know it was worth it.
The Oreck XL currently runs for $399.00, and right now, you can also get a hand-vac and a Speed Sweep for that price. This includes a tune-up for the cleaner (something I have not had to use yet). Always look for a deal so that you can get more than one thing. For my deal, I got the XL and the Super hand-vac upgrade. At the same time, I also bought an Upright Odor Fighting Kit for $49.99. This is a great savings. So far, I have not finished all the bags in this kit, saving me time in finding a local store to replace them.
My family does most of the vacuuming, but I am happy to say that I can vacuum now as well. The suction on this vacuum is wonderful. I have not had ONE clog (and we have a long-haired dog and a cat). The fresheners keep the bag smelling good, but make sure they don’t set off any chemical sensitivities. Just keep the bags changed regularly and anyone with allergies can benefit from it.
